Salary: £25,012 pro rata based on full time equivalent of 37 hours per week (£13.00 per hour) , pension and holiday entitlement.Hours: 26 hours a week, hybrid from home and office.
A vacancy has arisen as Clerk to Knighton Town Council. Applications are invited from proactive, experienced people with proven and demonstrable organisational and financial skills to partner our elected members.
The successful applicant will be the Clerk and RFO of the Council and have a statutory duty to carry out all the functions required by law.
You will be responsible for ensuring the Council receives the advice and information it requires to ensure good governance by your experience and/or research with available resources.
You will need to be enthusiastic, flexible and community-focussed with excellent administrative, interpersonal, accounting and IT skills in order to work successfully with employees (3), Councillors, external organisations, stakeholders and the community.
Excellent verbal and written skills are essential. You will hold, or be willing to work towards holding, relevant local government qualifications.
The post holder would be expected to work hybrid hours, from home or the Civic Centre, Knighton (Monday – Friday) with availability to attend evening Council meetings, usually once or twice a month on a Wednesday.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Knighton Town Council intends to Co-opt one member to fill the vacancy that exists in the office of Councillor for the Knighton Southeast Ward.
Expressions of interest are being sought from members of the public who meet the following qualifications and are interested in representing their community on the aforementioned Town Council. You must be a British citizen, an eligible Commonwealth citizen, a citizen of any member state of the European Union citizen or a qualifying foreign citizen and not require leave to enter or remain in the United Kingdom or have indefinite leave to remain. You must be 18 years of age or over; and meet at least one of the following criteria:
- registered as a local government elector for the area named above; or
- during the whole of the last 12 months occupied as owner or tenant land or other premises in the community named above; or
- your principal or only place of work during the last 12 months has been in the community named above; or
- you have during the whole of the last 12 months resided in the Community or within 4.8 kilometres of it.[1]

KNIGHTON TOWN COUNCIL INVITES LOCAL BUSINESSES AND TRADES TO A SECOND CONSULTATION ABOUT GRANT FUNDING
A presentation to update on progress and advise of next steps, followed by Q&A session and refreshments.
on Tuesday 13th February 2024, 7.00pm at The Civic Centre, Knighton, LD7 1EN.
An invitation to local businesses with shop frontages and local tradesmen and women to meet up and discuss the projects, quotes, and works. Knighton Town Council encourages the use of local contractors where possible.
A Powys County Council Built Heritage Officer (Conservation) will also be in attendance to take questions.
Deadlines have been set to apply for funding to improve Knighton’s shop fronts.The Council must make the application to Powys by Friday 01 March 2024. Over the next 3 weeks Knighton Town Council will work with businesses to complete expression of interest forms for all those yet to submit one.
All forms must be with the Town Clerk by end of FRIDAY 23 FEBRUARY 2024.

The Town Council has formed a working group to facilitate the application process, and the works if the application is successful. The working group membership so far is:
Councillors: David Williams, Ben Butler, Tom Taylor, Bob Andrews, Rob Edwards, and Petra Ford. Contact details are available on the Town Council website.
Business Owners: Nick Rowlands and Serena Taylor (more required).
The group would welcome the addition of any professionals such as builders and architects.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a casual vacancy is deemed to have occurred in the office of Councillor for the South East Ward of the Community of Knighton, Powys on the resignation on 31 October 2023 of Councillor B Caine.
Rule 5 of The Local Elections (Parishes and Communities) Rules 2006, provides that on a casual vacancy occurring in the office of councillor of a community, an election to fill the vacancy shall be held if, within fourteen days (computed as stated below) after public notice of the vacancy has been given in accordance with Section 87(2) of the Local Government Act, 1972, notice in writing of a request for such an election has been given to the proper officer of the council of the county within which the community is situate signed by TEN electors for the electoral area.
